How to Check Pop-Up Motion and Closed-Page Fit
Inspect closed, intermediate and open states, use side and back views to locate intersections and connection problems, then test the actual paper.
Move through intermediate positions
Do not inspect only the fully open pose. Move slowly through small, intermediate and open angles, watching for intersections and faces turning unexpectedly.
Inspect connections from another view
Keep the page angle fixed and orbit the camera to see the sides and back. Camera motion changes the view; it does not fold the paper or supply a new drive.
Repeat after each change
Change one cause at a time, then repeat the motion where the issue appeared. After digital preview, fold a physical sample to check paper thickness, glue areas and material behaviour.
Questions you may have
Are 0° and 180° enough to check a pop-up book's motion?
Inspect intermediate angles slowly as well. Parts may intersect or turn to the wrong side during motion even when the endpoints look correct. After a change, repeat the troublesome part of the motion, then make a physical sample.
Can rotating the camera fix a paper piece that does not move with the book?
The camera only changes the view. Hold the page opening fixed and inspect mounting faces and connections from the side and back. Changing the viewpoint cannot drive an unconnected piece.
